Homeowners shop panels and inverters closely, then accept whatever financing is put in front of them. The financing is often where more money is at stake.
The dealer fee
Low advertised rates on long-term solar loans are commonly funded by a fee added into the financed amount. A very low rate on a much larger balance can cost more than a higher rate on the cash price.
How to see it
Ask for the cash price and the financed price for the identical system. The difference is what the financing costs you. Then compare that against a credit-union or local-bank option on the cash price.
Solar production, bill offset and payment comparisons vary by home, usage, roof, shading, utility rate schedule and financing terms. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of savings. Pricing comparisons depend on system size, equipment, financing structure and contract terms. Any comparison is only meaningful between comparable systems and comparable financing.
